Consultant Psychiatrist, Coach and Medical HR Expert | Newcastle
From 2012 to 2016, Anthony was the Medical Director of the Health Education & Training Institute (HETI) which involved overseeing a number of network training programs. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle’s School of Medicine & Public Health and Year 5 Psychiatry Coordinator. He is currently completing a PhD in Medical Education, exploring personal learning environments in the intern training space.
Anthony is an experienced health public sector executive, medical educationalist and coach.
Anthony recently spearheaded a major reform of the NSW Health medical training process whilst successfully managing budgets of excess of $14million. Key outcomes of this work include an overhaul of medical intern allocation and accreditation processes, with close to 1000 internships delivered per annum and a 33% reduction in administration burden for accreditation without compromise in quality; delivery of 2 new medical training networks; delivery of a new Medical Manager training course to meet a key NSW workforce capability gap and succesful delivery of two major medical training conferences.
Anthony was born on Mouheneenner land in Hobart, Tasmania and pay respect to the traditional owners of lands I live and work on and elders past and present. My two most important roles in life are proud husband and proud father of two boys.
He also has a keen interest in technology and marketing and am Chief Technical Officer and a founder of the highly popular www.onthewards.org project a website and application designed to assist medical practitioners in their earliest days of postgraduate practice.
